Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) is the biggest private medical Non Governmental Organisation, working in more than 80 countries with around 2500 international volunteers and more than 20,000 national employees.
MSF assists victims of natural disaster, armed conflict and epidemics, irrespective of ethnic, political and religious affiliation. Besides its emergency missions, Médecins sans Frontières also works in various longer term programmes for the reconstruction of health care systems after crises or conflicts. In addition our work targets „forgotten populations“, minorities such as indigenous societies, people living in urban slums or street children. Through specific programmes our teams fight against „forgotten diseases” such as Sleeping sickness, Malaria, Tuberculosis or HIV/Aids.
MSF is constantly searching for people who are ready to share some of their time and their skills for the assistance of people in need. In order to join Médecins sans Frontières, you need a variety of professional and personal skills, which are essential for us to guarantee that our volunteers can deal with the specific and possibly difficult living and working conditions in the field.
Profiles needed:
- Medical Doctors (General Practitioners, Specialists in Paediatrics and Internal Medicine, Surgeons, Anaesthesiologists, Gynaecologists, Psychiatrists, TB and/or HIV specialists) Nurses (General Nurses and Operational Theatre- Nurses)
- Midwives
- Pharmacists
- Physiotherapists
Requirements: Fully qualified professionals, good English, French is an asset, availability from 6-9 months (except for surgeons, anaesthetists, OT nurse for 4 weeks), identification with humanitarian principles.
